"I am a third generation artist and native Houstonian who studied Studio Art Photography and Art History at Baylor University, and Arts Administration at the University of Houston. I discovered my love for photography while in High School, and continued my photography education while pursuing a BFA at Baylor University. While I no longer work or pursue a career in photography, I currently use many of my past photographic works in my Encaustic Wax/Mixed Media paintings. I have been primarily working in Encaustic wax and mixed media since 2013 and have been teaching various workshops on this medium throughout the last 5 years. In addition to creating art, I have also curated art auctions for local non-profits, judged numerous juried art contests in Texas, and have been invited to local High Schools to speak about the importance of art education and what opportunities there are for students interested in artistic careers. With my art, I love bringing color and vibrancy to a world that sometimes may seem a little drab. The majority of my pieces focus on the combination of abstract and nature imagery. My Encaustic paintings are comprised of many colors, textures, and other media that tell a story through abstract or imagery. Each painting starts with Encaustic Wax and as the painting progresses, layers of wax are built up and other media is incorporated. With many of my paintings you will find wax carvings, image transfers, metallic powdered pigments, oil stick, pastels, graphite, fiber, metal leafing, metal wire, and many other components."
