Obsidian Windchimes

Shop

Deborah & Richard Bloom are self-taught collaborating artists making chimes from nature since 1972. One distinct aspect of their work is the collection of materials; They spend up to three months per year out in the field: excavating obsidian in the volcanic regions of Oregon and California; "hunting and gathering" select flora throughout the nation, including Texas; visiting growers in southern California, taxidermists on reservations in the Rocky Mountains; and growing a few of the seeds and thorns in their garden in Portland, Oregon. All designs are original; while some our similar, no two are exactly alike. We are delighted to collaborate with Nature to create a unique object of art that is both sculptural and functional.
